This CD contains scanned images of the Street section of the above Whites Directory. 105 pages containing the names of the principal inhabitants of the City, arranged in alphabetical order of the street names and door numbers. Shows heads of households and their occupations. Approx. 150 names and addresses per page. Also includes a 20 page history of the borough and parish of Sheffield, a list of streets and lanes, etc., showing their situation in the City, Post Office information, and over 300 pages of professional and commercial advertisements, many with pictures. The images are in black and white PDF format, compatible with nearly all computers, PC/Mac/Linux/etc. - Adobe Reader 5 (not the latest version, but stable and compatible with most PC operating systems from Windows 95 onwards) is supplied on the CD for viewing on a PC in case you havent already got it, but most computers will read the files using their default PDF viewer anyway.
