Contents of Sheffield 1871 Alphabetical Directory
This CD contains scanned images of the Alphabetical Names section of the above Whites Directory. 144 pages containing the names and addresses of all the principal inhabitants of the six townships of Sheffield, viz. Sheffield, Ecclesall Bierlow, Brightside Bierlow, Nether Hallam, Upper Hallam, and Attercliffe cum Darnall, which form the Parish and Borough of Sheffield. Includes the names of many of the manufacturers and others in the neighbourhood. Over 100 names and addresses per page. Also includes a 20 page history of the borough and parish of Sheffield, a list of streets and lanes, etc., showing their situation in the City, Post Office information, and over 300 pages of professional and commercial advertisements, many with pictures. The images are in black and white PDF format, compatible with nearly all computers, PC/Mac/Linux/etc. - Adobe Reader 5 (not the latest version, but stable and compatible with most PC operating systems from Windows 95 onwards) is supplied on the CD for viewing on a PC in case you havent already got it, but most computers will read the files using their default PDF viewer anyway.
