Welcome to our October email news.
With Halloween upon us, we are shifting our focus from skeletons in the ancestral closet to monsters and ghouls. Frankenstein’s monster is a popular choice for Halloween costumes, and the story originates around a log fire by Lake Geneva. On a dark and stormy night in 1816 a group of friends were telling each other ghost stories. One of those present was Mary Shelley and we shall look at her own moving tale in our featured article.
We have a bumper harvest of releases this month, with thousands of parish records added to TheGenealogist.co.uk for Leicestershire, Lincolnshire, Shropshire, Yorkshire and Worcestershire. We also have added selected Bishop’s Transcripts for Somerset and more new wills.
November is the final month of our introductory discount which saves £50 on TheGenealogist.co.uk Diamond subscription, grab it while you can.
Genealogy Supplies also has many new releases, CDs include Directories, Army Lists and Heraldry.
We also offering free talks on how to break down brick walls in your genealogy, so let your society know and we could be seeing you soon!
Happy Halloween!

Do You Have Any Microfiche, Microfilm, or Old Books?
We are always interested in microfilm/microfiche of original records, in particular parish records, Scottish census and electoral registers.
Also if you have old books (pre 1930) of parish record transcripts, electoral registers, poll books and directories let us know.
We have the latest scanning technology to allow us to photograph loan books without damage.
We are happy to reward you for the loan of these items, simply let us know what you have. We also have volunteer transcribers who are waiting to help with these projects. If you are interested in transcription work please visit www.Ukindexer.co.uk.
